MISAC Conference Chairwoman Helen Hall (City of Fullerton) recently announced that all keynote slots for the 2019 MISAC Annual Conference scheduled for September 29 – October 2 have been filled. “We have an exceptional lineup of keynoters and I have no doubt our lineup of breakout session presenters will be just as great,” Hall stated when announcing those who will keynote.

MISAC favorite and always entertaining Kevin Ciccotti is ‘back by popular demand.” Ciccotti will kick off the conference on Sunday, September 29th around 1:00 PM and will be addressing the value and “how to’s” of team building and coaching. Following his presentation, Ciccotti will be sticking around for most of the remainder of the conference where he will also be leading a breakout session and will be available in his “office” for 15-minute laser sessions with conference attendees.

Following breakfast and the MISAC chapter meetings on Monday, September 30th will be Galen Emanuele whose topic “Build a ‘Yes And’ Culture of High-Level Performance & Engagement” is sure to be a hit. His dynamic keynote is sure to profoundly impact the way attendees communicate, show up, and lead their teams. Emanuele promises that attendees will laugh and learn all the while coming away with new, powerful tools to enhance their leadership abilities, self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and the capacity to drive exceptional culture within their organizations.

In addition to his keynote presentation, Emanuele is also on tap to lead one of the 28 breakout sessions scheduled to take place during the conference. During this breakout session, Emanuele will dive deeper into his “Yes, And” content addressing one of the biggest challenges we face in business and as humans:  how to effectively deliver a ‘no’ yet navigate conflict.

Following a trip through the exhibit hall, conference attendees will reconvene for lunch and the third keynote address to be delivered by InfoTech’s Scott MacDonald who topic is “The Moneyball CIO – Learning the Science of IT Decision Making.” MacDonald will walk attendees through the three real drivers of business satisfaction, and he will help IT leaders navigate a world in which:

·         Only 29% of business leaders are satisfied with the performance of IT

·         64% of CIOs are not aligned with executives on the role of IT

·         IT satisfaction has stayed flat while dependency on IT has increased.

According to MacDonald, “organizations that focus on business satisfaction dramatically outperform their peers.”

The final general session is scheduled for lunchtime on Tuesday, October 1st. For all intents and purposes, this session serves as MISAC’s Annual Meeting. During this session, MISAC President Tim Williamsen will deliver his State of the Association address and present his President’s Awards. In addition, it is anticipated a representative of the State CIOs Office will be on hand to update their agency’s activities. The MISAC Legislative Committee will present an update on legislation affecting city and special district IT departments and the always anticipated Excellence, Achievement, Innovation, Visual Information and Quality awards will be presented.

Those sticking around for the Wednesday, October 2nd “Leadership & Innovation Forum” are in for a real treat. MISAC has contracted with the former head of the Disney University Training Team at Disney corporate headquarters, Doug Lipp, to lead this all-day session. In addition to reveling attendees with stories about Walt and Roy Disney as well as Disney University founder Van France, Lipp will give attendees great ideas and tips as to some of the things the Disney Corporation has done to make itself one of the most successful companies in American history.

“We anticipate conference registration opening up here in the next few weeks,” MISAC Executive Director Brad Walker noted. “But, in the meantime, make sure you have the dates on your calendar. You won’t want to miss this year’s MISAC Annual Conference!”
