Rick Balzer, Interim IT Director, City of San Marino and President, IntelesysOne, will be on hand at this year's MISAC Annual Conference to present a case study focusing on how to move technology from an expense to an investment in the eyes of the public.  The session is part of the Disaster & Business Recovery Track and will be presented on September 30th from 2:50 - 3:45 PM.

Balzer noted this will be a real-world case study presented by the Interim IT Director of San Marino on a transition at the city of San Marino to bring network resources from failing unplanned expenses to vibrant technology solutions treated as an investment in municipal services and support.  Balzer will review the process of analysis, cost justification, and final council approval for new technologies.

A change in leadership allowed the city staff and council to implement technologies across Police, Fire, Public Works, Human Resources, Library and Recreation that aligned with the growing needs of the community.  A vendor agnostic review allows use causes focused on needs, not simply products.

Balzer will dive into the identification of major issues, the prioritization of projects, council support, all ending with a fully redundant city network that can operate from any location within minutes with a basic internet connection.  Attendees will see how solutions addressed the varying degrees of complexity from EOC deployment to automated license plate readers.
