MISAC, City of Fresno, and Cal Poly to Co-host Cyber Cities Webinar

It is no longer a question of “IF” a cyber-attack will happen, but “WHEN.” As the world’s fifthlargest economy, California’s cities have unique requirements and rules that are different from other municipalities in America. There are currently multiple nation-states, cybercriminals, and hacktivists that actively pursue cyber harm to California.


Join fellow MISAC members for an hour-long webinar on October 7, 2020 from 11 AM to 12 noon for “MISAC Cyber Cities.” The webinar is being co-hosted by the City of Fresno and Cal Poly’s California Cybersecurity Institute. Presenters will include Martin Minnich, PM from the Cal Poly California Cybersecurity Institute and MISAC’s own Bryon Horn, CIO, City of Fresno.

The FBI’s Internet Crime Compliant Center (IC3) 2019 report states that the “IC# received a total of 467,361 complaints with reported losses exceeding $3.5 billion. For the last several years, the State of California has ranked number one with a reported 50,132 victims in 2019. The most prevalent crime types reported were Phishing/Vishing/Smishing/Pharming, NonPayment/Non-Delivery, Extortion, and Personal Data Breach.


Cyber is no longer just a “tech thing.” All aspects of every California community must be aware of cybersecurity and its impact on government, education, law enforcement, economy, and citizens.
